Intro to Flameworking
3 hour introduction to lampworking

Learn the basics of making beads; use of a dual gas torch, safety issues, etc. Learn how to create a round bead, from small to large and add color using frits, powders and a touch of dichroic.
Beginning Flameworking
6-week sessions
Session I : Jan. 21- Feb 25
Session II: March 18 – April 22
Tuesdays from 6-9pm
For the beginner who wants to establish solid basics in flameworking and multiple design techniques. All flameworking classes are for participants ages 16 and up.
Learn the basics of forming beads, then move on to shaping and surface decoration. This class will help you develop a high level of competence in basic beadmaking and provide groundwork for further development. No glassworking experience is required.
Decorating Your Glass Beads
Wednesday, Jan. 29, 6pm-9pm
Add detail to your beads by pulling your own stringers and twisties. Using glass as a paint brush, add layers of design to your beads.
Basic Bead Shapes
Saturday, Feb. 15, 10am-1pm
Create tubes, cubes, cones and bi-cones; flat, round, even bulbous beads, all by manipulating the molten glass and without the use of forms or presses.
Hollow Beads
Wednesday, Mar. 12, 6pm-9pm
Learn to make hollow beads in various sizes; transparent and opaque; decorated and over a core bead.
Encasing
Saturday, April 19, 10am-1pm
Learn several techniques to encase beads and capture designs. Encase to create magnification and also create a bead using dimensional designs encased to maintain the dimension.
Using Dichroic Glass and Silver and Copper Foils
Wednesday, March 5, 6pm-9pm
Incorporate dichroic colors into your bead. Learn how to encase dichroic to maintain its unique quality. Also, learn how to encase silver and copper leaf into your glass beads. See how it reacts to some glass colors created interesting colors and patterns.
Reduction Glass
Saturday, April 5, 10am-1pm
Learn how to use special “silver or reduction” glass to create beads with unique color and metallic quality.
